Hello, Spring!
Easter Egg Print Making!
We used Styrofoam plates to create an Easter egg print. I borrowed rollers from ARRA (thanks, Ms. McGowan!) and we carefully used the acrylic paint to roll our favorite spring colors onto the print. It was a messy endeavor, but totally worth it! At the end, they experimented with mixing different colors, creating some very unique prints!

Self Portraits! I am so proud of how these turned out. The kids took the time to do a rough copy with me in their sketch books, then redraw it on their own for their good copy. Their patience and attention to detail was awesome - but not as awesome as the quotes that they dictated for me. "I am..."
For the Winter Carnival door decorating contest, I went with a Frozen theme! It seemed appropriate, as we sing along to the soundtrack during our art classes. We have Olaf blowing bubbles from my door, over to Jackie's door, where we placed Elsa. The kids decorated her dress, and cut out the million snow flakes we needed to branch the space between the doors :) I hope we win!!
Stained glass heart paintings! We tried to mix white with the yellow and red, to create a variety of tones in our work. The paint wasn't cooperating so I will be buying us some "real stuff" for our next painting experiment!
Happy Valentine's Day!
I cut out a ton of hearts out of various types and prints of paper and let the kids have at it! It was very interesting to see them want to "make something" out of them at first... before patterns and stories started to emerge. I will make sure to include the index cards with their captions of their work - always the best part :)
